A Colorful Church Wedding at The Mennonite Brethren Church in Fairview Oklahoma
When Amelia and her mom called me in September and excitedly told me she and Coda were engaged, it didn’t come as a shock. The two of them had been dating for several months, and from the very beginning it was obvious they were meant to be.
What was a little more shocking, though, was finding out the wedding was just five weeks away.
With a family as large as ours, finding a weekend when everyone is free is nearly impossible. It was November 1st or wait until next year…and these two simply couldn’t wait to start their life together.
The next five weeks were a whirlwind for everyone involved. But with the help of so many friends and family members, they pulled off an absolutely dreamy and precious wedding day.
The entire week leading up to the wedding was a windy, rainy mess. But when November 1st arrived, it was nothing but sunshine. Honestly, I’m not sure it could have been more perfect.
The day began with Amelia and her girls getting ready at the church. The morning was filled with love, laughter, and prayers. The schedule ran a little behind (because… weddings 😉), but we still managed to squeeze in first looks with her bridesmaids and with her dad just before the ceremony. Both moments were absolutely precious.
And for my mama heart? One of my favorite parts of the morning was watching Tara watch her baby girl. There’s just something about a mother seeing her daughter as a bride that gets me every time.
Then it was showtime.
As Amelia walked down the aisle, the look on Coda’s face was priceless. If pure love can be captured in a single expression, I think that was it.
Their ceremony had a couple of little hiccups that somehow made the day even more memorable and full of laughter. And I just have to say, having all your closest friends and family “rate” your first kiss ever? Talk about pressure! (For those who weren’t there, it was all in good fun. The groomsmen held up score signs during the kiss. I did not included that exact photo in this post, but there is a reenactment in the bridal party section 😉)
The rest of the day unfolded beautifully and was filled with more sweet moments than I could possibly recount.
I may be a little biased, but one of my favorite moments of the reception was Coda’s dance with his mom. I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the room.
After their reception exit came the photographer-in-me’s favorite part of the day. Because of their timeline, we scheduled all of their couple portraits for sunset…after the exit. There was no time crunch, no rush. It was the final event of the evening, and we were able to soak it all in.
And let me just say… the results were stunning.
Dear Coda and Amelia,
I am so incredibly excited for you both as you begin this new chapter of your life together. It has been such a joy to watch your relationship bloom over these past several months, and I cannot wait to see how you grow together in the years to come.
It brings me so much peace knowing that your hearts are rooted in love for the Lord. Building your marriage on that foundation will only strengthen it in the years ahead.
Thank you for trusting me with the honor of capturing such a special day.
With love,
Jordyn
